For a medical romance this story has more than enough action and drama to hold anyone’s interest, and the romance is only a small portion of its appeal.

Contemplations

"Out of your vulnerabilities will come your strength."
                                                                       —  Sigmund Freud

Vulnerability

One of the most common questions I’m asked is where do I come up with my story ideas.  It’s not an easy question to answer, because my ideas come from everywhere - a snippet of conversation I hear in line at the grocery story, something I observe from the next booth over in a restaurant, a photo I see in the newspaper.  Ideas float around everywhere and it’s up to me to grab the one that will knit into the story I want to tell.  For me, that story is always centered on the vulnerability of the human spirit and how that vulnerability transcends into a remarkable strength. As a writer, the single most important thing I do in creating my stories is to discover that place of vulnerability in my characters then show the journey they will take in order to find the love that will, ultimately, be the source of their strength.

Artist Benson Harlamert created this piece, called Vulnerability.  It’s a place we all know, a place I go daily in preparation to write.  Spend a moment to contemplate Harlamert’s work and know that from your own vulnerabilities you will find your strength.  Thank you, Ben.
